Freshening Up for a Spring Sale
The springtime is generally viewed as one of the best times of year for selling a home. Why? Because the warm weather’s back, spirits are high and people seem to have positive change in mind.
Some home owners like to utilise winter to get their properties ready for a Spring sale. This can mean extensive renovation and makeover projects, or perhaps just repairing a few maintenance issues.
However, if you’ve only just made the decision to sell as Spring hits us, don’t panic!
There’s still a few time-sensitive things you can do to freshen up your pride and joy again to ensure it stands out to potential Spring buyers.
Take a stroll around the neighbourhood and take notes on how your home compares to others visually.
Have a good look at what could be improved from a curb side perspective. Even get a friend to tag along who hasn’t seen the street all that much for a second opinion.
How are the lawns and gardens looking? Is anything overgrown that could be cut back or weeded out?
Maybe the paintwork on the fences or gates could use a new coat, or perhaps you could add some season-appropriate plants and flowers to a verandah area.
On the inside however, your biggest downfall is clutter. When buyers come for an inspection they don’t want to see a messy house. They need to be able to imagine themselves living in the space, and making it look smaller with clutter present only goes against you.
Natural light and fresh air is extremely important as well, so make sure to open your windows and curtains letting as much of the Springtime into your home as possible while people are inspecting.
Also, look at getting your carpets cleaned professionally to eliminate any unpleasant odours. Unwanted odours rank as one of the top turn-offs for potential buyers.
It’s also wise to consider updating or modernising bits and pieces of your home. It can be done cost-effectively and boost your buyer appeal significantly.
For a tired bathroom, some nice-looking towels and maybe some new cabinet handles can go a long way.
Always remember that a sales consultant or an agent is a great source for recommendations on how to style your home for a Spring sale. Before putting your house on the market, it’s a good idea to ask for a professional’s opinions and suggestions to increase your chances of a successful sale.
